# STATION BIO:
# Station is a psychedelic space rock / melodic indie pop / jazzy-emo-prog-core act, bred from the ashes of some great college bands at a chicken coop converted to a practice space in Kent, Ohio. Formed in 1999, this somewhat unknown Midwestern three-piece is one of the best underground acts in the area. Their new self-titled/released debut album is compiled with honest and passionate feelings through thoughtful lyrics and music. The album is an obscure gem filled with psychedelic indie rock tunes that will leave you wondering where this band has been hiding. Their strong sound perfectly compliments the melodies carried out by James Welding's breathless and wistful voice combined with Ian Penter’s strong blues-punk intonations. Their insightful and sometimes heart-on-my sleeve lyrics pull you into their world of living in a college town while trying to have fun and be successful in love, life, and music. # Station brings a splendid balance and unpretentious honesty that has been missing in this arena. So, sit back and take it all in.

The members of the trio and all the instruments they play on the album are:
Ian Penter - Drums, Jupiter-6, organ, bull-horn, walkie-talkies, voice, bass, guitar, banjo
Jay Steinhauer - Bass, Jupiter-6, ms-20, voice
James Welding - Guitars: electric/acoustic/12 string, voice, Jupiter-6, ms-20, flute, vibraphone, mandolin, clarinet, bottles

# Station uses Larrivée and Parker guitars, Rickenbacker and Guild basses, SWR bass amps, and drums by DW.

We will continue to be hard at work to develop this site into a plethora of information & cool stuff about # Station. There will be: information about the band, its members, the music, links to other cool sites, contact information, pictures, concert dates, and where to pick up a copy of the new CD.

The album has been finished and mastered. We'll be pressing our CDs soon! In the meantime, please feel free to listen to some of our tunes on GarageBand.com or SonicGarden.com.

Keep in mind that this site is never a completed piece. Scott will always put all kinds of blood, sweat, tears, and profanity into this new polished site. Please be patient with Scott's efforts, he works very hard for us in his spare time, because this isn't his full-time gig (although he wishes it was).

You may want to know more about us before you take the time to listen to us. Well, we've been told we sound like: Swervedriver, Jeff Buckley, Grant Lee Buffalo, Radiohead, Afghan Whigs, & Sonic Youth. A few of our influences, in no particular order, are: The Pretty Things, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, Devo, Frank Zappa, Beck, Aphex Twin, Iggy Pop, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Digable Planets, Pixies, & Jane's Addiction.

We welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions.

Thanks,
# Station
